INTER MIGHT SELL MAICON

Italian club Inter Milan are looking at the possibility of selling right back Maicon in order to raise transfer funds, which can be spent elsewhere on improving the team. Brazilian international Maicon is regarded as one of the best right backs in the world. His attacking prowess is something that Inter Milan rely heavily upon. He was one of the main members of the squad that helped Inter Milan lift the Champions League title two seasons ago. However, the 30-year-old defender could be set for a move away from the San Siro after it was revealed that Inter Milan are struggling with a lot of debt.

This coupled with the fact that they have missed out on the opportunity to play in the group stages of the Champions League next season mean that selling Maicon will be one of the means to raise up to £ 30 million. Even though Inter Milan will be unlikely to sell the player for up to £ 30 million, they are hoping that they can raise substantial cash as a result of his transfer. Barcelona and Chelsea were credited with interest in the right back a few seasons ago, but it remains to be seen if they will pursue their interest this time around.

“We first have to decide if we want to sell Maicon. Only then can we evaluate what to do. PSG are nevertheless building a superb team,” said Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti. “Inter are negotiating. For seven million, Silvestre will remain with us. We paid seven million plus half of the sporting rights of another player that was worth two million. If a club like Inter wants him only for seven million then the player will remain with us,” said Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini regarding the negotiations with Inter Milan for defender Matias.
