GREAT START

Inter Milan had made a fantastic start to the season and the dressing room cannot be more united than it is now according to midfielder Esteban Cambiasso. After the arrival of new manager Walter Mazzarri, they were expected to take some time to get into the groove. However, it has been a great start by the team, who will not be involved in any form of European football this season. Since taking over from Andrea Stramaccioni in the summer, Mazzarri has been able to get Inter to four victories and a draw in the opening five matches. As a result, they are currently second in the table only behind Roma.

They continued their winning run after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in which Cambiasso was one of the scorers. Inter were coming on the back of a spectacular 7-0 win over Sassuolo. After a goalless first half, Italian international Giuseppe Rossi opened the scoring for Fiorentina in the 60th minute through a penalty. Inter were heading for the first defeat of the season before Cambiasso came to the rescue of the team with the equaliser in the 72nd minute. Inter soon found the winning goal in the 83rd minute through Jonathan.

They managed to sustain the position to get three more points, but Mazzarri will want to maintain this good form when they take on Cagliari next weekend.

“You can see that Inter have an identity once more and if that is accompanied by results too then it’s even better. We had a great reaction to going behind. The team is united and the fans can go home happy. Fiorentina really pressured us in the first half, but we knew they couldn’t keep that tempo up and struck at the right moment,” said Cambiasso after the match against Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A.
